Donald William Carmichael, age 79, of Drummond Island, Michigan, died February 25, 2010 at his home. He was born October 8, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Dugald Thomson and Nora (McLeod) Carmichael. Donald grew up in Centerline, Michigan and attended school there. In February 1947 he met Vivienne Gilhooly and they were married September 16, 1950 in Centerline. Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. After the service he worked as a tool and die maker in the auto industry. Donald and Vivienne retired to Drummond Island in 1990. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and boating.

Donald is survived by his wife, Vivienne; daughter, Sandra Lee Spudowski of New Baltimore, Michigan; son, David Allen Carmichael of Sterling Heights, Michigan; five grandchildren, Karessa Marie Spudowski, Janelle Lynn Spudowski, David Dugald Spudowski, Christopher David Carmichael, William Allen Carmichael; great grandson, Colten Jerimy Klauka; and one sister, Norma Jean Eubanks. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Heather Lynn Spudowski.

Services will be held later this year in New Baltimore.
