Bruce William Patrick, age 95, of Cedarville, Michigan, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace, Michigan. He was born on January 11, 1915 at Patrick's Landing in Cedarville, the son of Bruce Kingsley and Emma (Tyfert) Patrick. The Patrick's Landing property was Bruce's lifelong home. After high school graduation, Bruce worked with his father as well as for other businesses in town. At the age of 27, he entered the United States Army and served with the 411 Amphibian Engineers in the Pacific Theater (Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines) during World War II. On February 28, 1948 he married Florence Elizabeth “Betty” Miller, whom he met when she visited Cedarville on a fishing vacation. They purchased Patrick's Landing resort from his parents and made that their home. In addition to operating the resort, Bruce was a boat builder.

Bruce was a charter member of the Les Cheneaux Lions Club where he was very active. He attended the Cedarville First Union Church and the Hessel Presbyterian Church. Bruce loved boating and fishing and also enjoyed hunting. He and Betty spent 22 winters in Naples, Florida where he spent three days each week doing volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Ralph Patrick of Cedarville; daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Patrick of Hessel, Michigan; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Patrick of Hessel. Bruce was preceded in death by sisters, Mae Patrick Brown and Jean Patrick Taylor, and brother, John Patrick.

Services will be held Friday, February 12 at the First Union Church in Cedarville. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a memorial service to begin at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jeffrey Meyers and Reverend Judith Arnold conducting the service. Inurnment will be in Cedar Cemetery in the spring.
