Robert Dean Sanders, age 78, of Pickford, Michigan died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Tendercare in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was born March 17, 1931 in Ansonia, Ohio, the son of Norman W. and Irene (Snyder) Sanders.
Bob grew up in Ohio where he graduated from high school and then served in the United States Navy. He married Emogene Wisner on December 22, 1951 in Union City, Indiana. Bob was a born salesman and truly enjoyed his work. The family lived in Ohio and Kentucky while he worked selling home education courses, school fundraising kits, life insurance and seed corn. For a time, they also grew tomatoes and corn. In 1995, they moved to Pickford where he and his family have made and sold lawn decorations and furniture from their home.
Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

Bob is survived by his wife, Emogene; three sons, Robert “Gene” Sanders of Pickford, James Duane (Joyce) Sanders of San Antonio, Texas, and David Charles Sanders of Pickford; two grandchildren, Tonya Lee Ann Keaton and Jamie “Diana” (Terry) Autrey; and eight great grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Chaz, Jace, Gregory, Danielle Nadine, Lillian Grace, and Zane Luke. Also surviving is one sister, Marilyn (Richard) Burkhardt of Hamilton, Ohio, and three brothers, Wayne (Joan) Sanders of Columbia, Missouri, Roger Sanders of Dayton, Ohio, and Gene “Kent” (Karen) Sanders of Liberty, Indiana.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and by sister-in-law, Annetta Sanders. |
Services will be held Tuesday, February 9 at Reamer Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M.
Burial will be in Oakland Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan. |
